How many times have you stood in front of the mirror and questioned what you saw?
Maybe you fixate on something you wish you could change. Maybe what others compliment, you can’t even recognize.
That’s not vanity.
That’s not delusion.
That’s distortion.
You’re Not Seeing Wrong — You’re Seeing Through a Wound
Most of us don’t realize it, but we don’t see ourselves clearly.
We see through filters — energetic imprints shaped by trauma, family dynamics, and the culture we’re raised in. These distortions don’t just change how we feel about ourselves — they change how we see ourselves.
Energetically, it’s like looking in a fun house mirror and trying to make sense of what’s reality.
So let’s take a moment. Breathe, and ask yourself:
- “When I look in the mirror, do I see my truth — or my wounds?”
- “Do I believe others see something I cannot?”
- “What energy is shaping my reflection today?”
If you’re feeling even a glimmer of recognition in these questions, you’re not alone.
You’re carrying something. And it has a name.
How Energetic Distortions Take Root
Energetic distortions aren’t random. They’re learned — absorbed — often without your permission.
- Family patterns: Maybe love was conditional. Maybe criticism was constant. Maybe you inherited the idea that your body was never quite “good enough.”
- Trauma and abuse: When your body is a site of pain or violation, the energetic response is to disconnect — or to hyper-focus. Both distort reality.
- Societal and cultural norms: We are trained, over and over, to compare ourselves to impossible standards. Energetically, this creates pressure that twists self-perception.
These layers form energetic archetypes — unconscious roles we step into without realizing. Each one comes with its own pattern.
The 3 Energetic Archetypal Weights We Carry
Here’s the truth: body dysmorphia is just one part of a bigger energetic story.
There are three core archetypal energetic weights — and we tend to carry a blend of them.
✧ The Inner Critic
Associated with body misperceptions
This archetype is constantly scanning for flaws. It measures, compares, and judges — never satisfied. Rooted in perfectionism, rejection, and a deep fear of unworthiness, the Inner Critic distorts your reflection and makes self-love feel out of reach.
✧ The Protector
Associated with trauma and abuse
The Protector doesn’t want to be seen — because being seen once meant being hurt. This archetype creates shields, armors, and energetic walls. You may feel disconnected from your body, or hyper-aware of danger — even in safe moments. This distortion is about safety, not beauty.
✧ The Conformist
Associated with societal and cultural judgments
The Conformist believes the only way to be accepted is to fit in. It shapes itself to meet the mold, often at the cost of authenticity. This archetype distorts self-perception by aligning your worth with outside approval — chasing validation instead of truth.
Which Energetic Archetype Are You Carrying?
You may feel most connected to one, or you may recognize all three. That’s okay. Most of us carry a blend.
And when you can name the archetype, you can begin to release it, and return to a clearer, truer reflection.
